Early in his career, Ali was known for being an inspiring, controversial and polarizing figure both inside and outside the boxing ring. He is known as one of the most recognized sports figures of the past 100 years, crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated and "Sports Personality of the Century" by the BBC. He also wrote several best-selling books about his career, including The Greatest: My Own Story and The Soul of a Butterfly. Ali (as Clay) began training at 12 years old. At the age of 22, he won the world heavyweight championship from Sonny Liston in a stunning upset in 1964. Shortly after that, Ali joined the Nation of Islam and changed his name. He converted to Sunni Islam in 1975, and then embraced the teachings of Sufism in 2005. Ali retired from boxing permanently in 1981. In 1967, three years after winning the heavyweight title, Ali refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, citing his religious beliefs and opposition to American involvement in the Vietnam War. He was eventually arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges and stripped of his boxing title. He did not fight again for nearly four years—losing a time of peak performance in an athlete's career. Ali's appeal worked its way up to the Supreme Court of the United States where, in 1971, his conviction was overturned. Ali's actions as a conscientious objector to the war made him an icon for the larger counterculture generation. Ali remains the only three-time lineal world heavyweight champion; he won the title in 1964, 1974, and 1978. Between February 25, LIKE AND SHARE YOU COPY BUT RELINK

Career Tips For New Graduates And The Companies That Hire Them

Career Tips For New Graduates And The Companies That Hire Them Maynard Webb , Contributor I write about startup culture, leadership and the future of work. Opinions expressed by Forbes Contributors are their own. Tweet This Even though you are new to the world of work, you can still take control of it, own your destiny and achieve what you desire
It’s graduation season; congrats to all the new graduates and welcome to the world of work! Graduates, I know that just starting out and earning your own way can be challenging. The job market isn’t perfect and maybe you’re not starting in the exact role you want. Don’t despair. Even though you are new to the world of work, you can still take control of it, own your destiny and achieve what you desire . Those who do this from the beginning will go farther in their careers in the long run. Gallery The 10 Best Cities For New College Grads In 2016 Launch Gallery 11 images Here are six tips that will enable you to succeed as the caretaker of your career from the start: It’s all about integrity. Do what you say. Say what you do. Always act in a way that makes people remember you positively. Have a great attitude. You might be brilliant, but if you are hard to manage, it’s easy to find someone else. You have to be fun and easy to work with. Work for a higher purpose. When I worked at eBay, we didn’t see our work as selling stuff from people’s attics. We viewed it as creating e-commerce and empowering a generation of entrepreneurs. No matter what your job is, understand that its impact is broader than making money. Then, you will find more meaning in what you do every day, and a higher purpose will guide you through the inevitable tough days. Be brutally honest with yourself. Be harder on yourself than anyone else will be on you. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Don’t confuse action for traction. Focus on outcomes, not face time. So many people work very hard and are utterly exhausted, but they don’t achieve anything that will matter in the long run. Prioritize where you direct your energy. Similarly, pick your battles. There are a million things to be upset about in any work situation, so fight only about things that are really important and that will move the needle. Recommended by Forbes Have fun. Those who spend their time working on things they love are the ones enjoying life the most. Don’t be afraid take a risk to chase your dreams. Employers, you will be onboarding new graduates over the next few months. Here are the six things you need to know to help them succeed: Get voted onto the team every day. People have more options than ever. What are you doing to be the employer of choice every day? Let them make a big impact. Today’s graduates are more focused on trying to change the world than they are on becoming wealthy. That’s noble, but it’s also more effective. Studies show that when you are passionate about your work, the outcome is more successful. Unfortunately, most people today are unhappy at work; one study found 51% of people are “not engaged” at work. Infusing meaning into our jobs is a way to make work more fulfilling and more rewarding. That enables everyone to win. Give them validation and feedback. The once-a-year review is antiquated in a fast-moving world, and especially for people used to real-time information from as many sources as possible. Give feedback constantly. Provide coaching. Be dedicated to helping them get better. Help them develop their skills and achieve their career dreams, even if it means one day moving on from your organization. Be flexible. The traditional world of work—with its set hours, established spaces to do work, and a separation between personal and professional—isn’t matching the desires of people today, but they should. Management behaviors should reflect all of the technology advances that the internet affords us. People can now work wherever and whenever, and this does not mean that they will work less, just that work and life can be more woven together. Allow them to speak up. They want to be included in the dialogue, and they want to participate. That’s great. They have valuable contributions to make. Comment on this story Print Report Corrections Reprints & Permissions

This story appears in the May 31, 2016 SAY “PANAMA” these days and the word “papers” quickly comes to mind. Too bad. I recently visited this small Central American country and saw firsthand what is largely unknown: Panama is a huge economic success story, enjoying an average annual growth rate that’s about the best in the world in the 21st century. Things have “slowed” recently: Growth last year was a tad below 6% but is expected to be a bit above 6% this year. Unlike the numbers coming out of China these days, which are ostensibly slightly higher, Panama’s are the real deal. Its growth is still light-years ahead of that in most of the world’s countries. Contrary to global headlines, Panama is no sleazy money-laundering backwater. Quite the opposite. Panama City is becoming the financial center of Latin America, with scores of global and Latin-American financial institutions having a sizable presence there. The country has made considerable progress in transparency. The multigovernment Financial Action Task Force on money laundering removed Panama from its gray list this year. In 2012 it was taken off the OECD’s blacklist of tax havens. Panama is implementing other reforms, such as doing away with anonymous shareholder certificates, and expects to be in compliance with OECD transparency standards by 2018. Investors think Panama’s prospects are bright. The government recently floated a $1.2 billion bond issue, which was quickly oversubscribed. Government debt to GDP is only 40%; in the U.S. it’s over 100%. In terms of moving freight, Panama has made itself the economic crossroads of the Americas. It has handled control of the canal well since it took over in 1999. The number of containers moving through this historic byway in 1993 was 267,000. Today there are well over 6 million, and with the opening of a third set of locks in June, which will enable the canal to handle today’s megaships, that number should surge to well over 12 million. The massive infrastructure attendant upon this growth in traffic has obviously been a boon to the country. The government wisely didn’t treat the canal as a short-term political piggy bank the way most countries have done with, say, their state-owned oil companies. Considerable sums have been reinvested in the canal. The resultant growing volume of trade has meant that government revenues from the canal have also grown nicely. Almost a decade ago Panama enacted what is called Law 41, which offered considerable incentives to any major company making Panama its regional headquarters for Latin America. More than 100 multinationals, such as Procter & Gamble, have done so. Among the enticements is that their employees pay no Panamanian income taxes. As with the canal, the creation of these headquarters has generated supporting infrastructure, including schools. Panama’s expanding airport has also became a crucial regional hub; 68% of the passengers landing there are passing through to other destinations. With the exception of New York and Chicago, Panama City has more skyscrapers these days than any other city in the Western Hemisphere, and 16 of Latin America’s 25 tallest buildings are in Panama City. This is amazing when you consider such megametropolises as São Paulo, Mexico City and Buenos Aires. Recommended by Forbes Panama has been attentive to building the necessary infrastructure to support all of this expansion. Construction of a major monorail is under way, and a new convention center to handle such “business tourism” as conferences and exhibitions is near completion. Another source of growth with enormous potential is medical tourism. Johns Hopkins, for example, has a large facility there. With health care less available in the virtually bankrupt systems of many Western countries, especially in Europe, demand for what Panama offers–excellent care at affordable cost–is almost limitless. Funke Akindele Is Tired Of Jenifa’s Diary Funke Akindele, producer of the series Jenifa’s Diary, says she is tired of writing, playing lead roles and assisting the director in her popular comedy series. She talked about the challenges of being a comedienne and reassures her fans that the TV show would continue as she would keep churning out more versions of the comedy series. “We have actually filmed the fifth season but we are airing the fourth right now and we would soon begin shooting the sixth season. I must confess that I am tired because it is not easy writing, playing the lead character, assisting the director and also supervising the whole project. It is not easy writing a comedy script but each time I want to put it to rest, people tell me that the last season was lovely and they keep asking what would be happening in seasons to come. They still want to see more because everyone loves Jenifa. I believe that Jenifa is a brand that has come to stay because we use her as a vessel to pass messages across to young people. I use the character to highlight some problems the youths face and also proffer solutions to these problems. I don’t see Jenifa’s Dairy coming to an end” She further says: “Being an actor is not easy not to talk of being a comedian. It is really difficult to think of something fresh and new. When I started Jenifa’s Diary, I knew I had to start the story afresh because some people did not see the movie. I was concerned about how I was going to do something totally different from the movie. When it was time to shoot Season 2, I felt I had to move away from what I did in Season 1 and that was the same dilemma I faced in Season 3″, she concluded. Source: Vanguard

  • Blogger Ai Takagi found guilty of sedition by Singapore Court
  • Judge says Takagi intended to provoke hatred in city-s
An Australian blogger has been sentenced by a Singapore court to 10 months in prison after being found guilty of breaching the city-state’s laws against speech that instigates racial and religious discord.
Ai Takagi, a 23-year-old Australian of Japanese descent, published posts in 2014 on the now shut-down Real Singapore website that were intended to "provoke unwarranted hatred against foreigners in Singapore," Judge Salina Ishak said.
Takagi, who is eight-weeks pregnant, had pleaded guilty to the charges and expressed remorse during the proceedings. Her Singaporean husband Yang Kaiheng, with whom she ran the website, is due to go on trial on similar charges.
"The sentence is not surprising given Singapore’s stance on such issues, and it is within the range of sentences I was expecting, " Takagi said through her lawyer Choo Zheng Xi.
"I’m concerned about how this will impact my pregnancy as I will likely have to give birth to my first child while still serving this sentence.
In one of the blog posts, Takagi reportedly quoted a Singaporean who allegedly quit his job claiming that Filipinos in his company were treated better than his countrymen. The post reportedly described Filipinos as "two-faced" and "relentless back-stabbers," The Straits Times reported.

Adam Johnson's gf refuses to follow him to court today as underage girl tells court the intimate things they did together!

Footballer Adam Johnson appeared in court today to defend his two count charge of sexual penetration with an underage girl today, but his girlfriend and mother of his child Stacey Flaunders refused to follow the sacked Sunderland player to court.

Stacy walked out of the court sitting on Friday when sexually intimating Whatsapp messages between her partner and the under age girl were read out loud in court by the prosecuting attorney.

The accuser, the under age girl who the police have refused to reveal her identity testified against the footballer in a recorded video interview and says she was ready for what could happen between her and the footballer although it was wrong.

Asked how she felt, the girl said: 'As much as I expected it to happen, I was a bit shocked it had. I sort of knew I had done something wrong.'
She added: 'It wasn't that I didn't want it or anything. I just knew it was wrong.'
'I got a message from Sunderland player Adam Johnson who I'd idolised for quite a while.'
The girl said that, after exchanging messages, she first met-up with Johnson on January 17 last year when he signed two Sunderland shirts for her.
She then explained how the player continued to message her, talking about getting a 'thank you kiss'.
'I was well up for it. It was a surreal type of thing,' she told the police officer. 'I met up with him again. I gave him his thank you kiss and more,' she said.
The girl described how Johnson exchanged WhatsApp messages with her after their first meeting, saying 'you owe me for this' and 'am I going to get a thank you kiss?'.
The teenager said that at the second meeting, in the player's Range Rover, Johnson said to her: 'I've come for my thank you kiss.'
She said that she eventually told him 'go on then', and they began kissing.
The girl said: 'I was kissing him for quite a while.'
'He undid the button on my trousers. It took him a while to do that,' she said. 'He got his hand down my trousers. He started to put his hands in my knickers.'
The girl then described to the officer further sexual activity between the pair.
Later in the interview, the police officer asked the girl what Johnson knew about her.
She replied that the player knew how old she was, what school year she was in and where she sat at Sunderland matches. She said Johnson also knew her date of birth.
She said: 'He asked me when I was 16.'

Johnson has already admitted one count of sexual activity with a child and another of meeting a child following sexual grooming.
The one-time England midfielder is accused of abusing 'his revered position in society' when he had sexual contact with the teenager 'in a way that he knew was both morally and legally wrong'.

Charly Boy Has An Important Message For Ladies Worried About Being Single This Valentine

Valentine’s period can be a tough period for single people as almost all ads and giveaways are focused on couples.
Veteran musician Charly Boy however has an uplifting message for ladies that are worried about being single this Valentine.
He says:-
 Charly-Boy-Lady-D-600x400
Few days to Valentine ’s Day and some lady out there is arrested in her thought. In her thought she has this running in her mind ” I don’t have a lover, I don’t think any man will want to buy me gifts or take me out on that day’ My special advice for you long lady “KNOCK IT OFF”!!!!!!!
Don’t let that thought make you feel like a crap. Valentines gift and outing doesn’t validate how cute, sexy and appreciated you are as a lady.
Take away that mindset from your beautiful soul because the worst loneliness is not to be comfortable with yourself. No matter how you feel, GET UP, DRESS UP, SHOW UP AND NEVER GIVE UP.
I hope this speak to any lady out there who feels like a loner, Be your own #WCW

Wendy Williams speaks on Ciara & Future drama, says Future should have been a 'drive by'

During Hot Topics on her show yesterday, Wendy thrashed Ciara for suing her baby daddy Future for $15m, claiming that's the amount she would have made if he hadn't slandered her on social media.
"Here's my thing CiCi and you know I love you. Future is not the reason that your music hasn't sold. And Future was also not the reason you got that lucrative contract for a moment with Roberto Cavalli. You did that girl. You are so talented.
"You are his 4th baby's mother with four children. When you met him and he only had three baby's mothers and three children, that should have been a drive by not a stay with"
But here's where the calamity comes in. We are talking about Ciara today on Hot Topics and tomorrow I go to an event where Ciara is performing and I don't have my 200 squad for back up."

Nigerian Music Videos With Highest Views On Youtube

Nigerian Music Videos With Highest Views On Youtube

This is a list of the top twenty most viewed Nigerian music videos on YouTube.
Everyone has watched these videos over and over but which of them had the highest viewer-ship? P-Square rule this list as they have 5 out of 20 songs listed.

20. Starting the list is our six-pack boss Flavour with his lovely single, Ada Ada. I am sure couples are the reason this song is in this list. After all 13 million no be beans.

19. Flavour again! However, this time it’s with the controversial remix to the love song Oyi where that “kiss” happened. In my opinion, that kiss gave the video its 14 million views.

18. Not Flavour, but our nicely built Iyanya with his successful comeback song “Kukere”. The etighi dance in this song is one of the reasons why the birth rate was high in 2012. You think I am lying? Get 14 million views and see the results.

17. I don’t know what the chorus means (our Ibo brothers should translate), but I know that this song is a hit. I mean, back to back.
The new additions to Mavins and their boss himself, Don Jazzy featured in this hit track. Personally, I think Don Jazzy’s voice is the reason the chorus was a delight. Oh! I am talking of Adaobi with 14 million views.

16. Nek Unek by MC Galaxy. This song about Godswill Akpabio giving our money to Davido is so groovy that most people forget themselves and dance.
Me too! Whether it is “Shizzy Ufot” or something else, I do not know, but I know I must dance. With 15 million views, this song is bam.

15. Park! Baby, pull over! This is one of KCee’s best songs. However, the credit should go to Wizkid, as his chorus was too nice and catchy. They had a remix with Don Jazzy, but there was no video for it. That one sef make sense. Pullover has over 15 million views.

14. Mavins again! These guys are everywhere. They even managed to introduce a new word to our dictionary with this song. Oya, I spoilt the surprise, it is Dorobucci.
Shot by Nic Roux in South Africa, this song introduced your girlfriend to Korede’s wink. Yea, that wink was legen- wait for it- dary. Your girlfriend had a hand in the song’s 16 million views. Sadly, mine too.

13. Omo Baba Olowo’s first entry with his groovy tune, “Skelewu”. This song had, wait for it, 3 videos! Davido finally settled for the one about disease.
Sounds weird? That did not stop us from watching it over and over, and dancing too! Skelewu has almost 17 million views on YouTube!

12. This song was too nice. Apparently, Bracket were trying to do their Geography assignment. So they decided to memorize names of countries and BAM! Mama Africa was birthed.
Nice traditional tune and a lot of words I did not recognize. Well, their fellow Geography enthusiasts gave them the 17 million views. I hope you passed, Bracket.

11. This video is an old time favorite. Your pastor was still in the world when it came out. Yep, I am talking about Do Me by our favourite duo, P Square.
No offence Bracket, you saw this coming. “Do Me” was everyone’s favourite too as it has over 17 million views on YouTube.

10. The Nigerian good boy song. One fine girl was “touching “ J Martins and the guy didn’t like it so he did what every responsible child will do.
He called his friend and entered a studio. The song was an instant hit with every guy pretending that they weren’t the ones “touching body”. Any way, the video has been watched 17 million times.

9. Our very own P Square have their first feature on the list with Alingo. I never knew they could bark until I heard the song. To be frank, they are perfect “barkers”.
This video was however famous because of the new “azontolized” dance they tried to introduce. Let’s face it; these guys always have high views. The video has more than 17 million views right now.

8. This song is about our dearly beloved ladies who provide comfort in the night. Flavour (Yay!) sings about his encounter with a lot of them. Even though we all claim not to like Ashawos, we still helped Flavour get 19 million views. Good job guys!

8. This video was criticized for borrowing heavily from the “Do me” concept. However, that did not stop us from loving it, for a short while though. The video was really nice and, as usual, was shot in South Africa.

7. P square again! This time it was a “collabo” (all pun intended) with Don Jazzy to give us the catchy song Collabo. The funny video was, as usual, shot in South Africa with, as usual, Jude Engees behind the camera.
We all liked that lady in the video, yimu, keep denying! Who did not love Don Jazzy’s part? What is “Orlando”? The video has more than 20 million views.

6.P Square! Let me just continue from number 7. This time it’s with that dancing song. Seriously, the song dances too.
Shekini was well received as those DJs kept giving it to us, we sef want am too. Although, they showed their Christian side by speaking in tongues but who cares? We dancing y’all! Over 28 million views!

5. This song is everything a Nigerian guy wants and everything a typical Nigerian lady does not like. You already know it Aye by Davido. Voted Number 81 in the world, I wonder what country that girl came from.
Definitely not Nigeria! Even boys like Ferrari. Even though girls did not like the message, it did not deter us from watching it 29 million times.

4. Finally a lady! Yemi Alade with her own Gulder Ultimate Search for her boo, who was with his boo. Men sha.
The video was hilarious, thanks to reporter Bovi from “We Don Catch Am”! Thank God, the show doesn’t exist. E for red. The video has been watched 37 million times.

3. Number 4 video is from our very own Bangalee. I mean Eja Nla. That guy with a short thing na. Even though we no longer enjoy his songs like before, everyone agrees that Oliver Twist was a hit, back to whenever… Who did not like Genevieve or Omotola? And those “lifiti lafata” too. Mehn, this video merited its 39 million views.

2.Our number two video was so successful that Timaya kept singing about bum bum for a long time. Mehn, was that video “something else”? I thought I was watching “something else”.
At first, I was interested in the song, then I started noticing…… You all know why you kept watching it till it got 39 million views. Good boys and lesbobos. But all those bumbums everywhere? Gosh!

1.Another P Square video that was shot in South Africa by Jude Engees? You garrit! However, this video was so nice and the concept was well received. See how they pulled those dance moves off.
It was wonderful. I wasn’t the only one who thought like that. This video has a wonderful (compared to other Nigerian videos) 59 million views. Only P Square can do that!

Do you agree with this list?

Revealed!! The Nigerian State Where Cleaner Earns N375,000 Monthly

Revealed!! The Nigerian State Where Cleaner Earns N375,000 Monthly

cleaner

Facts are emerging from the on going verification of the Niger State workforce on how government paid top government functionaries double salary and the way salary of junior officials are inflated to divert government fund.
A messenger at the Ministry of Finance earns N265,000 monthly while a cleaner at General Hospital Minna earns N375,000 monthly.
It was learnt from sources close to the verification firm, Sally Tibbot Consultants that no fewer than three permanent secretaries in Niger State civil service earned over N1.3 million monthly.
It was revealed that ordinarily the salary of a permanent secretary should be between N400,000 and N500, 000 but the said permanent secretaries because of their professional background earn another salaries as consultants to another government agency bringing their monthly earnings to N1.3 million.
The source revealed that “ the irony is that some of the said permanent secretaries were members of the committee set up by the government to guide the consultants in the ongoing verification exercise.”
Similarly investigation also revealed that a messenger earns N265,000 in Ministry of Finance and a cleaner also earns N375,000 in General Hospital Minna whereas they are supposed to earn less than N30,000 each monthly.
In the same vein at the Veterinary Department in the Ministry of Agriculture a man who took cows for grazing earns accelerated salary scale of N375,000 while originally his salary is only N23,000 monthly.
It was gathered that when the junior staff were confronted they denied collecting the said money rather it was discovered that their names were being used by top government officials to divert the said amount even as they collect their actual salary at the end of the month.
Consequently a ring of top officials who ran the scam with the names of the junior officials were being unveiled by the consultants and it has started sending fears to some officials in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in Niger State who are now running for cover.
The leader of the consultancy firm (Sally Tibbot Consultant) conducting the verification exercise Sa’adatu Bakrin-Ottun Sally in an interview confirmed that the Permanent Secretaries earned salaries from their profession as well as their present status.
